Americans are ranked 8th, in terms of the amount of candy and chocolate
consumed per person per country.
Americans eat an average of 11.7lbs of candy per person annually.
England consumes the most candy with an average consumption rate of 30lbs
per person. Switzerland and Germany follow
England with an average consumptions rate of 21.6lbs and 19.67lbs per person
respectively.
Retail candy sales in America were an estimated $23.5 billion last
year. Retail chocolate sales alone were worth $13 billion.
Halloween is the top candy-consuming holiday, followed by the Christmas
holidays, Easter and Valentines Day.
During the 1999 Christmas season, U.S. consumers spent more than
$300 million on chocolate and $1.45 billion on all candy.
